Veneer walls are often used on houses and foundations among other applications. There are many different types of stone veneer. Some have been manufactured and sliced to ~1″ thick and are more installed like tiles. WebbThe collection was displayed at the Smithsonian Institute. In 1942 it was decided to use some of the stones to build a test wall at the National Bureau of Standards. The test wall was built in Washington D. C. and then moved intact in 1977 to the NBS site in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
